Belgrade, see you soon!

In my way to Zagreb, I left Belgrade at 11am, will arrive 6pm Zagreb, for me it’s going to be my third time in Zagreb, the first two was a part of my job.
7 hours by train it takes, the route is boring, just flat there is nothing interesting, it just kind of to be you and yourself, thinking a lot! Waiting for something to happen, finally something happened!! Two Chines guys were sitting beside me I though that they are father and son, but after what happened, the picture was more clear, they are just working together. so the police border at the Serbian side enter the train, for no reason I don’t why the man that I though him the father was in stress, before they got inside he starts to ask the people about the border and the stamps. he shows the police border few documents, the police border went out they didn't ask for him to follow him, but maybe as a result that he didn't took a stamp he worried and he just went also out of the train, we thought that police ask from him but no!! After 15 minutes the train starts moving and he is not here!! His collage tried to call him, a cellphone ringing! So he stayed at Serbian border without anything, and just with him few papers! No one understand what happened, finally the problem almost solved, the Serbian police border will drive him to the next station the guy that’s he stayed at the train will drop off at the next station with a lot of luggage, to wait to his college and to take the next train that’s also heading to Zagreb.
Back to our reality, the purpose of my travel to Belgrade wasn't to see tourist attractions or something similar to that. I spend in Belgrade 5 nights and if somebody interested to see the attractions can do it in 2 full days. But that’s wasn't my interest, so on I was more looking forward to try live my life as a Serbian in these days, meeting people to talk with them, to taste there food, to hang out with locals, for my opinion that’s for me the real experience!
Funniest part when while I’m walking around in the city, I was stopped by those people who go around with a map, or they just arrived the city and searching for the address or a place and asked me! Is that cool? Yes believe me, I will write later different post how to travel.
The Serbs in Belgrade are so cool it’s my opining during the people that I meet and talk to, they are very helpful, will help till you will get, a little problem that most of the things written in the Acrylic, but no worry most of them speak English.

A day before i went to had at Italian restaurant breakfast, like their style and i like the place, when i just sit-down, the first thing that they bring me it was the news paper, its a short one just few topics, i though  they just do it for me. but it wasn't, for every guest come in get a newspaper!
before i left the place i asked from him ask him a question, he follow outside and i asked;

have you been at the army?
"yes, 1999 before five days NATO bombing Serbia, im a man dont like army and weapon. i work here, i like it, my weapon today is the menu and to serve the people"

Let’s see when I will come back again to Belgrade, I don’t what the reason will be, maybe I will visit my in friends in this great city, don’t know when also. That’s for I will say no goodbye, see you soon!

was written at 15/11/14 somewhere in the train route Belgrade- Zagreb,

living the life as Serbian in Belgrade !!

A day before i started my travel, my friend she contact me with Jovana (in English: Yovana), I’m lucky that I succeeded to manage it and meet her in the next day in Belgrade 11/11/14 at 10am.

Earlier when i just woke up and get out of the room, i meet this girl working at the hostel and i asked her:

What was your first job ?
" on internet radio, I talking in a program, I was in high school 17-20,  part time work and study. One of my family was working at a classic radio, he moved to Sweden there he opened the internet radio, once in a vacation when he back here to Belgrade, he asked for somebody to work at the radio, so I got it :)! The job was to animate people to let them talk or sending SMS what song or music they want to listen to, at the first day I was very stressful and afraid for talking to the public, my boss pick me up then when stopped by a store and he came back with. Bottle of gin and tonic! I was a bit drunk and that's was my first day at the job of my first one. Most of who was listening to these radio where the Serbs who lives abroad!"

Its 10 am i meet Jovana we just cross the street and eat a simple breakfast and drink yogurt, while we were eating we chat about why i'm traveling in Belgrade, i explained for her i'm not a typical tourist, i'm going around without a map! just myself, wallet and my iPhone (to take sometimes pics), i wanna feel like a local.

while we were walking, in some point i saw few people, around 20 persons standing by a tower, parents and their kids, most of them were holding a paper and written on it numbers!! Jovana explains for me what's going on; they are changing cards of world champion players, like a trade in. the parents are more excited than their  children.

we get to the river DANUB its so dirtry, walked little bit, then from there we climbed up to "Kalemegdan", the roman city where Belgrade started and then spreaded.
Jovan’s boyfriend joined us for a little bit it was so interesting also chatting with him, he is from England but lives here, explain for me how much it's complicated the issue of the refugees here, and around 26 nationalities living just cross the river where it was concentration camp!! there are apartments and they live in it and part of them were building of the concentration camp. we start starving James left us to his work.

me and Jovana head to a restaurant called “Rest” i recommend it so much, a great place. i tried the local alcoholic drink that here they made it Rakjia, and we eat the Ćevapi or also you can say kebab.

after all i back to the hostel for sleeping for couple of hours, before the night starts and to go out, Jovan send me SMS that there is public Bachata dancing lesson and party a the street, so i just pick up myself and went there.

the next day 12/11

while walking in the park i recognize i flag that i don't for what country belong, so i just stopped a gentleman and asked him:

What is that flag ?!?
"Flag of Azerbaijan, as a thankful to them for their help for building this park! Tasmajdan, and that person the president of Azerbaijan."He asked me where I'm from? I'm from Israel I answered. Then he asked again where exactly? Oh somebody know what he is asking about! I said Haifa, "nice place, I was  there, I was with my basketball team and we had a game up close to the Lebanon border at a Kibutz" He said. He end the conversation with saying "nationally it doesn't important  for me as what the people are, matter for me about the person if good or not! "

after was the plan to go ahead to the river to rent a bike and to ride to “Zemun” neighborhood, when i got there i heard a music and some policies also going around, i walked through where the voices and music coming from, around 300 hundred people T.V channels also taking place there, flags, i walked to be more closest to them and asked someone was going on!
10502340_10153323534149951_6672411725420875531_n
she explains to me: "Vojislav Seselj, he was the president during the war at the beginning of the 90’s and now after 12 years in the jail in Hague, as a result of war crime! he returned back to Belgrade". the interesting thing here, he is thinking to back to politics, he has a radical party, looks again how to connect all the Serbs under one country!! as it was Yugoslavia, with discussing these issue with few people i was amassed that still there people thinking in this way! i just took my bike and ride back, and i don't think i will ride this much again for who is not used to its hard.
late night i went out to explore a little bit the nightlife, went to the hipster area located very near to the river at street called Braca Krsmanovic, started at Club Peron at the same night the had Salsa and Bachata night, every Wednesday, around 1 am i started to be over, went out and changed to other mood, entered dance bar called “Chorba Cafe” its a was great live music band Vukasin Brajic.

Now comes the most interesting part of the night!! cause i don't somebody will write about it, while i'm in my way back to the hostel, i saw the strip club in front of my eyes i said, i wanna talk with the people who work there. the enter was free the beer was similar price like back home, so for me wasn't expensive its the same, a girl comes to me she was just 22 years old and i asked her:

Do you like your job ?
"I was a sales manager, was boring for me, I like dancing that's for I end here this job at the strip club!, Because I wanna pay my scholarship! I study at two colleges, Arabic business school. i broke with my boyfriend because that's job, but for me, i need it for money”
when i was going out i also stopped to talk with 2 guys one was the manager and the second bartender, both of them are married and have a kids! i just was without words and left back to the hostel.

the day after was just relaxing and taking a rest, because in addition i broke a little bit my leg !!

I'm gonna stay in Belgrade 4 nights more :)

we got to the (i stopped writing), we stop now again i thought that now the Serbian side!!! i was wrong because the first stop it just was the enter to Bulgarian–Serbian border area!! this one now the bulgarian side, we all in the bus hop off went to put stamps to check out the country, i was the first one! mine it wasn't passing by the electronic machine, he tried few times it doesn't work (its like scanning passport machine), he said to me stop beside and to let others to pass, fine, after all he went call somebody both of them came to me, the one that came with start to ask where i'm going and why? i'm traveling and going to belgrade, ok fine have a good trip!!! hop on the bus again to the serbian side now!

the Serbian police enter the bus, i was the first one to take from the passport, he says “Israel!! aha “ and again the same question like at the Bulgarian side, he took the passport and returned after 15 minutes, the bus drive close the door and just starts driving passing the border!! I’m in Serbia i said!!

A big smile on my face, relaxed, calmed down after a long breath i holed it till this moment to be passing the border!

rossed the border !!

i hold it for three hours since i get to the international bus station in Sofia directly after my flight from Tel-Aviv, all the signs in Bulgarian didn't understand nothing the people also hardly speak English, i just and randomly an office and asked for a bus to Belgrade, she said “yeah there is one leaving in like one and half hour, give your passport to add you if you want”, i gave her, she was looking at passport page after page she said “you are Israeli and you need a visa !!” i tried to tell her the no i don't need!! few of my friends already visits there and they didn't told that they did visa!! no you need a visa she said again !! ohh okay can you call the embassies and to check with them i said, i was totally in shock both of them says yes i need a visa!! i said so what i have to do, you need to go to the Israeli embassy and it will just be open in two days !!
i just went out of this office i didn't give up i feel something wrong here! just few steps i entered another office i told the issue, she said “don't worry its gonna be alright” she checks at at document that she has at the computer and its written under Israel “no need”, i bought the ticket i was half happy half worried, until i passed the border.

When we just crossed the border, one of the drivers started to make like cigarette shop with some passengers at bus, i didn't understand that much the situation because they were talking all time Bulgarian, but for me it was funny and remind me of my bus driver that i had while guiding a group in Croatia and Slovenia a month ago, when we each time arrived to a border checkpoint, always he said when a bus stucked or just turned around: “Bulgarian are very problematic always hiding somehow something”, i think its explain enough what was going here at the bus after we pass the border.

around 21:00 i arrived to the hostel, located in the center or as i saied at the heart of the city "downtown central hostel" called, very new, great staff, and nice. chat with few people here took a shower and just pick up myself to go out, after walking and eat something i end at a entrance of place don't know yet the name i will check it out later, i started to chat with others, they accept me very nice to be with there company and just enter inside with them, inside was a Serbian live songs, a small band, smoky place, few drinks and just back to sleep to get ready for tomorrow.

for here that was the day of 10/11/14
